Simon Baker & Rebecca Rigg Split After 29 Years of Marriage.

Simon Baker and Rebecca Rigg are going their separate ways.

The 51-year-old The Mentalist star and 53-year-old Ellie Parker actress announced they are separating after 29 years of marriage, People confirmed Friday (January 29).

The two quietly split last April, according to the outlet.

“We remain close friends and our three children will always be the most important focus of our lives,” the former couple said a joint statement to People. They share three children together: Stella, 27, Claude, 22, and Harry, 19.

The couples first met in the early ’90s, going on to star in the Australian soap opera E Street. They had most recently been seen spending time at the beach with family over the holiday season in Australia.

Simon Baker is old and looks like a leather bag that's been bleaching in the sun for 10 years. Who fucking cares.

He's my favorite baker, but not my favorite Simon.

I don't understand anyone getting married before they're 30. It's not the 19th century. We live longer than 40.

Does Rebecca Rigg hate Toni Collette? They both appeared in Spotswood opposite Anthony Hopkins in 1992.

Rigg chose marriage and children, Collette chose a career, marriage and children.

I knew them when he was an unknown fresh from Australia and before they had children. Nothing but the best to say about them, particularly Rebecca - she's one smart cookie with a great sense of humor. They were both warm, unpretentious people and very close with Naomi Watts, who's a doll.

That's a really long time to be married, then split. Wonder what happened?

by Anonymousreply 7January 29, 2021 7:44 PM

How did People get such a basic fact as the length of their marriage wrong? Per both their Wiki bios, they married in '98 after living together for 5 years. They weren't *that* young and they certainly weren't impulsive.

The marrying young thing seems like a working class phenomenon. Even that's changing since cost of living can make it prohibitively expensive.

Has People acknowledged their EGREGIOUS error so Datalounge can correct itself and properly exercise its grand delusions?

Life happens and you get to an age where you want something else. If you're brave you take action and move on. Hopefully it can be done without acrimony.

R1 those of us who aren't completely shallow.

Looks like they waited till their kids are all grown before divorcing. I think one of them found someone to be serious with.

by Anonymousreply 15January 30, 2021 5:57 AM

So only 22 years of marriage despite many years living together?

It's not tragic, but usual.

by Anonymousreply 16January 30, 2021 6:37 AM

Yep, a divorce a year after the youngest turns 18 reeks of staying together for the sake of the kids. It also simplifies the split--no custody, no child support.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Rebecca and Simon (as R6 mentions).

I share a love of surfing and the sea like Simon, and for many years, he has been my go-to crush.

Am sorry to hear of their separation, though, as I always thought they made such a fine couple.

I wish them both happiness....

God. How can someone like that blimp out at just 51! How....STRAIGHT.

Simon Baker freaked me out the first time I ever heard him interviewed, on TV shows he speaks with a realistic American accent but in real life has a heavy Australian accent.

R10 That’s backstreet Wahlberg

First she loses her mother to cancer and then she loses her husband?

[Quote] Thought Simon Baker was so much better than this.

Why? Because he smiled on your TV screen?

No R25.

Because I knew people that knew Rebecca Rigg and Simon Baker.

They were reported to be down-to-earth, really lovely people.

Rebecca and Simon were together for almost 30 years. Then I began hearing rumours of infidelity on Simon’s part.

Dismissed them because I’d heard through said friend that they weren’t the “Hollywood Type”.

Now seeing the photos of Simon groping a scantily- clad, younger woman, my mind goes to the idea that Simon may now be yet another Hollywood cliche.

Sadly.

by Anonymousreply 26April 4, 2021 12:58 AM

Your friend is an idiot if he thinks infidelity is a Hollywood trait.
